Fielding questions from members of the press on Tuesday, the soft-spoken CBK boss said that he was more concerned about ensuring that he does his work in the right way.

"I never worry about these things. You cannot worry about things that you cannot change. I only worry about things that are in my control. That is the only thing that matters," said the CBK Governor.

He added that "I have learnt that speculation doesn't lead you anyway; it only raises your blood level. You know, I could spend all night next to the phone waiting for a phone call. That doesn't help let me get the work done. And if on that day I have to walk away from the job, that's fine. It's not the end of the world, " Governor Njoroge said.

Njoroge said that his job had been rocked by many challenges that had made him suffer many sleepless nights.

On how he has fared so far, he said that it was not the time for an appraisal, only saying that there was a lot of work to be done and that he was taking the long view.
