Kenya has experienced an influx of disk jockeys in the recent past.
The art of playing music has grown immensely over the years to a level of becoming a source of livelihood for thousands of youth.
One man who has used this craft to create successful brands raking in millions of shillings in a month is Kelvin Mulei, christened Dj Kev.
Mulei owns one of the biggest events company in East Africa, Mo sound events.
The company launched in early 2008 boasts of offering a wide array of services including events management, brand activations, corporate entertainment and it’s the driving force behind Kenya’s most successful music awards ‘Groove awards’ and upcoming radio station ‘NRG radio’ which is doing quite well in the broadcast scene.
Mulei cites “lack of quality sound and coordination” during his early deejaying days as the main reason which inspired him to start Mo sound.
As to what led to groove awards, the multimillionaire narrates a story of his vision to get local talent recognized and appreciated.
Kelvin through his companies reportedly makes almost Ksh230 million annually, probably the reason why he was able to purchase the BMW i8 sports car which costs approximately Sh14.2 million without much financial strain.
Mo sound has built a wide portfolio of clients ranging from top-level corporates to governments over the years.
