Kenyan politicians have also not been left behind in giving their opinions after the two European giant clubs were drawn for a face off.

Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, a Man United 'diehard', is optimistic that his team will edge out the Catalans to book a spot in the semifinals with Portuguese side FC Porto.

The Portuguese heavyweight plays English Premier League side Liverpool Football Club in another quarter-final fixture.

"ChampionsLeague Semi-Finals will be Manchester United vs Porto!" Murkomen tweeted on Friday.

The Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator also predicted that the much-awaited contest between the Red Devils and Barcelona will be mouth-watering to both fans and players.

"Beautiful football. The lads will enjoy themselves!" Murkomen added.

On his part, former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, another soccer enthusiast (his favourite is bullfighting) said he was in a dilemma since he is a fan to both Man United and Barcelona.

In a tweet on Saturday, Khalwale said he will be satisfied with any result but noted his major interest will be to see Barcelona's red-hot striker Lionel Messi play.

The Argentine, whom Khalwale described as 'the greatest player of his generation', inspired Catalans to beat Red Devils 3-1 in the 2011 UEFA Champions League finals.

However, the former lawmaker urged Man United caretaker manager and former player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to face the Spanish giants with confidence.

"Man Utd is meeting Barcelona in the quarterfinals of the Champions’ League. Win or lose, the result is the same! Because we shall have done so to the greatest player of his generation. King Messi! Go, go, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, go!" Khalwale posted.
