Murkomen was scheduled to be hosted on KTN's Check Point  show but the interview was called off on the last minute.

In a post on his official social media platforms, Murkomen expressed his disappointment and accused Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, who reportedly owns majority of the shares at the station, of cancelling the interview.

"I am sorry to let you know that my colleague Senator Moi has cancelled my appearance at KTN #CheckPoint Tonight. I have always supported media freedom in Kenya. Unfortunately the struggle between media ownership and editorial  independence is real," he tweeted.

The Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator added: "As a matter of fact I hold different political views from those of Senator Moi. But you see he owns KTN and he has a right to use it as he wishes. I don’t have any ill will against news team. They have to do what they have to do. I wish  them well."

Reacting to the sentiments, Wambugu said Murkomen should not rant over the issue since it was not a must for the station to host him.

"My brother... you and I know that it’s a media house that decides to invite you to a show ... or not. Now you are speaking as if you are entitled to be on KTN! Maybe you need to go and work there. Then you would have a right to complain like this. Ama ununue media house yako (Or else you buy your own media house)" the MP posted on Facebook.
