A Nakuru court on Wednesday charged two men with trafficking elephant tusks worth Sh2.6 million.
Samuel Wahome and Hillary Kiplagat denied the charge before Chief Magistrate Josephat Kalo.
The duo sought to be released on reasonable bond terms.
According to the charge sheet, on November 6 at Shell Filling Station within Nakuru, the two were found in possession of four elephant tusks without a permit from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) in contravention of the Wildlife Conservation Act.
They faced a second count of trying to sell the tusks.
The tusks were found stashed in a green and white manila sacks concealed as wood.
In his ruling, the magistrate released the two on a Sh1 million bond each with a surety of the same amount or deposit an alternative cash bail of Sh500,000 pending hearing of the matter.
The matter was slated for hearing on February 13.
