A middle-aged man is fighting for his life at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital after he was hit by a speeding car at Kemera in Manga along Kisii-Nyamira road on Saturday.
It is alleged that the victim Pius Moseti was fighting with another man Abel Onyonka who threw him to the road when the car hit him.
"Moseti overpowered Onyonka during a fight they had over a woman's love. Onyonka in self-defence threw Moseti to the road when the speeding car hit him," said a witness, Sam Ongoro.
Ongoro said Onyonka went into hiding after the incident in fear of his life.
Nyamira County Traffic commander Hassan Osman confirmed the incident and said the victim's head was crushed.
"The victim was rushed to hospital unconscious because the car ran over him," said Osman.
The commander noted that the suspect who escaped is being hunted down by the police to face prosecution.
