The Kisii county MP Janet Ong'era, has promised not to give fish to the youths of Kisii County but show them how to fish. This was after she launched youth empowerment for self-reliance program that would see many youths get to the skills from training institutions.
"As the Youth Patron, I pledge not to be giving fish to the youth but show them how to fish," said the senator.
In a meeting that was graced by National NGAAF chairperson, Hon. Regina Ndambiki, Kisii Commissioner Mr. Kigochi and Father Laban, Ong'era said that she would flag 200 youths to undertake various technical courses at the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA).
On her Facebook post on Sunday, the MP said that the 200 youths selected from the 45 wards in Kisii County, arrived safely at the National Industrial Training Authority. And therefore they are going to be empowered through the skills and knowledge they will acquire from the institutions.
"The 200 youth under the Ngina Banto Youth Empowerment for Self-reliance Program arrived safely at the National Industrial Training Authority - NITA Athi River." She said in her post.
The Women representative has been in the forefront in initiating many projects in the area while she looks forward to making political ground ahead of 2022 showdown, where she is eyeing the gubernatorial seat.
