Most homeowners do not know the dangers that come with electricity until the problem hits them hard.

Electricity can not only lead to loss of property but also death if not handled in the right manner.

You need to know some of the dos and don'ts before using electrical gadgets in your home.

Here are safety measures you need to embrace right away;

1. Switch off the power before working on any electrical connections

Electricity should be dealt with carefully. Before you work on connections in your home, it is advisable to ensure that the main switch is off. There are cases where you are likely to make wrong connections that can be harmful to your health.

It is not advisable to make any repair if you are not sure of what you are doing. Instead, simply call an expert to fix the mess for you.

2. Childproofing the connections/outlets

Open connections or outlets are dangerous for kids. Make sure all the outlets are secured. Kids can be tempted to touch one part to another. Do not leave live wires in your home because they can put your children at risk.

3. Avoid overloading the outlets

Some people are known to overload their outlets or sockets. Make sure you do not do the same. Overloading can lead to the burning of your television or cause an electric fault. Make sure you only use the ideal number of connections as advised.
