Firing a warning of stiffer penalties for cheats during this year’s exams, Magoha called on secondary school principals to complete the syllabus and nothing else.

“I only request heads to ensure syllabus is covered and completed,” Magoha said.

Speaking during a closed-door meeting involving top officials representing the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA), Magoha affirmed there will be no let-up in enforcing stringent measures for the purpose of ensuring examination's credibility prevails.

He added that his ministry has sealed loopholes on all cheats. Magoha also expressed concern that cheating cartels could be regrouping with the thought that he is out of Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) leadership.

The CS also cautioned educators against over-reliance on revision questions, noting the examinations will equally cover the entire syllabus.

Amid the tough message, approximately 1.7 million students are expected to sit for this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.

The high enrolment has been attributed to the hundred per cent transition in Jubilee's big four agenda.
