Veteran Nakuru politician Koigi wa Wamwere has opened up on the many cases of murder that have been witnessed in the country.
Speaking on Sauti ya Mwananchi Radio Saturday evening, Koigi claimed that the unfortunate deaths can be partly attributed to the government's poor leadership.
With most of the deceased reportedly having been in relationships with older and monied individuals, he blamed it on the government's inability to empower the youth.
According to the former Subukia parliamentarian, Kenyan youth are jobless, with the desperation for money sending them into bad relationships which result to their deaths.
"Mfumo wa uongozi wetu pia ni wa kulaumiwa maana inawafanya vijana wawe radhi kufanya chochote kupata pesa kutokana na ukosefu wa kazi. (Our leadership system is pushing the youth to the corner and forcing them to go to any extent to get the money as a result of joblessness)," he said.
"Wasichana wetu sasa wanalazimika hata kujihusisha na wazee bora wapate pesa, kisha wanajipata taabani (our ladies end up dead because of finding themselves in relationships with the wrong people)," he added.
The country has in the last three weeks woke up to the brutal murder of at least three young women.
