Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has yet again taken a swipe at her former boss Raila Odinga, accusing him of being a stumbling block to progress in Kenya.
In April this year, Raila vowed to instigate constitutional changes in the country, a move that has been silently supported by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“This year is going to be a year of change in our country. We want to look at our governance and see what needs to be rectified or corrected. If you want to stand in the way of change, change is going to change you. So you have a choice either to be with us or not to be with us,” he said as quoted by the Standard.
Speaking in Malindi on Friday, Jumwa hit out at Raila, accusing him of refusing to concede defeat in many instances. She said Raila is the major problem in the country.
According to the ODM lawmaker, Raila's plans to have constitutional changes will not be helpful if he does not learn to concede defeat in elections.
"Political problems are caused by politicians. If you go to the race with a fixed mind that you'll win, that's the problem we have. I want to ask those who never concede defeat all the time (Raila), we will not change the constitution because you don't want to concede defeat.
"When you get to the race, just accept results. Just wait for your time. You're the one bringing problems to this nation. Even if we change the constitution and you don't accept change, the problem will still remain," she charged.
Jumwa was expelled from ODM party in March but was given a reprieve by Political Parties Dispute Tribunal which termed her removal unprocedural.
Raila has been on the ballot four times and has rejected the outcome of the last three presidential polls. It's not clear if he will run in 2022.
