ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has defended the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) against claims of fighting graft selectively.
In a tweet on Friday, Sifuna told off Digital Innovation Secretary at State House Dennis Itumbi for claiming that DCI is biased in handling graft cases. Sifuna reminded Itumbi that ODM governors are also facing probe over the loss of millions in their counties.
He, however, said that the party has never come out to defend the governors accused of embezzling funds or committing different offences. The lawyer asked Itumbi to cross-check his facts before making any claims.
"Of course you are wrong. There are ODM Governors under investigation and some facing prosecution. The difference is we don't defend them coz they are ours. 2. Theft does not follow party lines. Mwizi ni mwizi (A thief is a thief),” he responded.
Itumbi had questioned the DCI on why he has only been probing governors affiliated to the Jubilee. He wondered why he is yet to hear the detectives are after ODM, Maendeleo Chap Chap and other parties' leaders in the country.
"I agree, maybe I am wrong. There is no @TheODMparty Governor that is suspected by anyone of being corrupt. Maybe, @DCI_Kenya is right, ODM, @MCC_Party, @anc_party Governors ni weupe kama pamba! Jubilee Governors ndio suspects!," he tweeted.
