Kisumu County Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o officially opened maternity theatre at Kombewa Sub County Hospital in Seme Constituency where a child was successfully delivered after the first caesarean section operation.
The baby named Khaemba, was born in the full watch of the governor and had an opportunity of holding the baby after delivery.
“In the history of Kombewa Sub County Hospital no caesarean section has ever been performed at the facility but today (Tuesday) baby Khaemba was safely delivered at facility under the full watch of the Governor of the great county of Kisumu Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o who officially opened the facility's maternity theatre,” read a statement released by the Governor’s press team.
According to the statement, Muhoroni Sub County Hospital will be officially opened on Wednesday, February 20, 2019.
Initially, the Kisumu County Hospital and the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (Russia) were among facilities offering caesarean section services in the County.
The positive gesture comes even as nurses in the county remain on strike.
They started their strike on February 04, to push for the implementation of return to work agreement signed in November 2017.
