Daniel Ndambuki commonly referred to as Churchill on Friday surprised participants at the National Drama State Concert after he revealed that he never went past the zonal stage.
The colourful event which was graced by Deputy President William Ruto was held at the Kibabii University.
Churchill noted that in his entire life he has never gone to drama events and proceeded past the zonal stage.
"First of all deputy president, I am very glad because kwa mara ya kwanza hiyo miaka yote, I never went past zonal. Tulikua tunashindwa hapo zonal or divisional (In all my years, I never went past the zonal stage. We were always defeated during the zonal or divisional stages)," said Churchill.
"Na siyo kwa sababu we never used to work very well. Shida ilikua hatari ya matamshi ya lugha ya mama (It is not because we never used to work hard but the problem was mother tongue influence)," he added.
The comedian noted that he was astonished by the great talent the young participants have, adding that it should be exploited for their betterment.
"I'm so glad for the talent we have seen here. I hope we can move forward we harness these talents and together with the government, tuone venye tutachukua hizi talanta tuzieke kwa television na radio zisiishie hapa," he said.
The Eastern region produced the best performers in this year's edition with Makueni School emerging top in the National Drama Festivals play category and second best in the choral verse.
Churchill is one of the most celebrated comedians in the country, with his Churchill show offering employment to young, upcoming talents in the entertainment industry.
