Political analyst Martin Andati now says that the whole issue about the alleged Sh368 billion loan for Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) extension from Naivasha to Kisumu was a hoax.

This comes a day after the government rubbished claims that President Uhuru Kenyatta failed to secure the loan from China where he currently is, despite signing other deals.

Andati on Monday termed the entire matter a making of opposition leader Raila Odinga.

This is after the former Prime Minister kicked off the debate in Nyakatch, Kisumu county, about a fortnight ago, when he declared that himself and Uhuru would go to collect the money.

"Serikali isiwalaumu wanahabari maana ni Raila ndiye aliyeyaleta haya madai (the government should blame Raila and not the media)," he said on Bunge La Maisha on Radio Maisha, Monday morning.

Andati said that the SGR loan was a lie from the onset, considering that Treasury Cabinet Henry Rotich never accompanied them.

"Kama ingekuwa kuna pesa ya aina hiyo inapeanwa basi waziri Rotich angekuwa pale (if any such money was to be given then the Treasury Minister would have been there)," he added.

Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita has also rubbished the loan narrative, adding that the two were not in pursuit of any such loan.
