Mobile service provider, Safaricom has come out to explain the reason why there was a voice and data outage.
According to Safaricom, the outage was caused by multiple fibre link cuts. A statement from Safaricom says the cuts affected critical transmission equipment.
For the better of Sunday, Safaricom subscribers were not able to access the internet.
The outage has caused the loss of voice and SMS services in the coast and lower eastern region as well as general data unavailability across the network affecting services operated through the internet.
“We wish to apologize to our customers and partners that are currently experiencing voice and data outage, caused by multiple fiber link cuts affecting critical transmission equipment. This has resulted in the loss of Voice and SMS services in Coast and Lower Eastern regions, as well as general data unavailability across the network, affecting services operated through the internet” said the company.
”We are working to restore the services as soon as possible, and apologize for any inconvenience caused” it assured.
Kenyans using Safaricom network took to Twitter earlier to complain over the matter.
