Cats are among the most loved pets in Kenya as well as in other parts of the world. In Kenya, however, especially in the village, cats were mainly kept as pets for one main reason, to scare away rats. This trend is however slowly changing, as people have found out that cats actually make good companions.

Since cats cannot speak to human beings, they have their own unique way of conveying different messages.

Here are some of the ways cats communicate with their owners.

1. Rubbing against your body, especially the legs

If you have ever had a cat in your home you have experienced this, right? This is very common among cats. The cat does this as away of 'marking' its owner. By rubbing against you, they leave a scent on you which calms them and gives them a sense of belonging. This also means the cat feels secure around you.

2. Bunting

This basically passes on a love message to the owner. The cat knocks its head on you now an then to get your attention as well as a way of saying "I love you, my owner".
