A mention of Kaptembwa and Rhonda slum areas of Nakuru West Sub County and what comes to one’s mind is high cases of insecurity.
However, this will be a thing of the past after area MP Samuel Arama revealed that he has set aside Sh6 million from the NG-CDF kitty for the construction of a fully equipped Divisional Police Headquarters in Kaptembwa.
Speaking on Monday at the Nakuru Town West NG-CDF office, Arama said the issue of insecurity has been a challenge in the area and that prompted him to set aside the fund for the construction a fully equipped Divisional Police Headquarters in Kaptembwa.
The legislator, however, commended the security team in the area for their continued strive to ensure security for the constituents.
“This Nakuru Town West has had challenges of insecurity but we are addressing the same. We have set aside Kshs.6 million from NG-CDF for the construction of a fully equipped Police station to beef up security” said Arama.
Arama, however, took an issue with police officers from Central Police station in Nakuru over what he termed is harassing the locals of Nakuru Town West.
According to the legislator, a section of police officers from central have been allegedly arresting youths from Nakuru West and harassing them with those who fail to bribe the officers being taken to Nakuru Central Police cells.
He said this is an issue that needs to be addressed and that with a new Divisional Police Headquarters set up in Kaptembwa then such cases will be dealt with.
“We do not want police officers from Central coming to Nakuru West to harass the locals. Let matters of Nakuru West be addressed by the police officers in Nakuru West” said Arama.
The Meeting was also attended by Nakuru Town West Deputy County Commissioner Elmi Shaffie who called on the locals to ensure they register for the Huduma number system.
The DCC stating that will be the only way to ease government services to the citizens.
