Government Spokesperson Erick Kiraithe has issued a statement shortly after ICT CS Joe Mucheru confirmed his replacement.

Kiraithe has been replaced by Colonel (Rtd) Cyrus Odhiambo Oguna.

This, CS Mucheru stated, was in the line of government seeking to revamp its communication structure.

In his statement, Kiraithe has congratulated Oguna as he assumes his new role in government.

He also gave  Kenyans an assurance that the colonel would deliver, disclosing that they had a history together.

"It is a great honour and pleasure to welcome Colonel (Rtd) Cyrus Odhiambo Oguna, MBS as the new government spokesman. I have worked with   Colonel (Rtd) Oguna in the past and can assure Kenyans that the Colonel is equal to the task." stated Kiraithe in his statement on Tuesday afternoon.

Oguna served as Linda Nchi Spokesperson during Kenya's military operation in Somalia. CS Mucheru confirmed Col Oguna's appointment noting that he would immediately assume his duties at the ministry's offices in Nairobi.

"Colonel (Rtd) Cyrus Odhiambo Oguna appointed Government Spokesman with immediate effect. Colonel (Rtd) Oguna will be based at Ministry of ICT and will have oversight over all Government Communications channel," the CS Tweeted.

President Kenyata has made a series of changes in his administration lately with KDF's General Mwathathe surviving exit with one-year tenure extension.
