Museveni who landed a few minutes ago at Moi International Airport in Mombasa was received by his Kenyan Counterpart President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy Dr William Ruto.

Uhuru and his deputy had arrived at the Airport some minutes earlier in preparations to receive Uganda's top man.

On touching down, Museveni was accorded a state welcome where he inspected a Forces parade shortly after both countries' national anthems.

Museveni who will be hosted by Uhuru and Ruto at the Mombasa State House is set to tour the port of Mombasa as well as conduct bilateral talks to which a presser will be issued later as confirmed by Statehouse spokesperson Kanze Dena.

“During the two-day State visit, President Museveni, accompanied by his host President Kenyatta will tour the port of Mombasa,” Dena said in a dispatch to newsrooms.

It is understood that the visit comes amid tensions between Uganda and Rwanda who are involved in a diplomatic row, where Rwanda points fingers at Uganda for arresting Rwandans, disrupting regional trade and providing support and space to Rwanda's enemies.

But in a rejoinder, Museveni's side has since denied the allegations prompting Rwanda to close its borders to Uganda.

This biting decision has since seen Uganda lose massively in terms of business prompting President Uhuru to dive in.

Uhuru paid a visit to both Heads of State early this month to discuss an end to the growing hostilities.

"We are faced with some challenges as neighbours and as a region. Through goodwill and good intentions, we will resolve these challenges," Kenyatta said while in Kigali on March 11.
