Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said the Wiper leader is only eyeing the position of Deputy Prime Minister in the next government, and not the presidency as he has been claiming during interviews and press conferences.

The county boss noted that it is clear Kalonzo is not ready to ascend to power as he claims.

The second-term governor rubbished Kalonzo’s suggestion on the extension of President’s term limit in office.

Mutua argues that Kenyan youths want to be part of the country's leadership and old politicians need to pave way for them.

“During the said interview, Hon. Kalonzo clearly indicated that President Kenyatta's term should be extended, either as President or Prime Minister and that upon the same, he will ONLY BE INTERESTED IN BEING A DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER,” Mutua tweeted on Wednesday.

Mutua has equally expressed his interest in the presidency come 2022.

He is confident that he will get the support he needs to emerge victorious in the next General Elections.

Mutua has urged Kalonzo and other leaders from Ukambani to rally behind him as he seeks to rise to the top office.
