Transport was paralysed for the better part of Friday after bodaboda riders in Kemera, Manga in Nyamira County clashed over parking space.
Police officers engaged the operators in running battles to disperse the protesting riders.
Magombo Police Inspector Geoffrey Makori condemned the incident saying officers were forced to fire in the air to disperse the clashing riders.
"Riders at Kemera bodaboda stage locked out bodaboda riders from other regions not to drop or pick customers and this prompted to the clash," he said.
Makori said one of the bodaboda riders who does not operate in the area attempted to ferry a customer when the riders from Kemera started the trouble.
"Riders should embrace peace while operating because there is no one who can force a customer. It is unaccepted for riders to engage in fist fights purposely because of carrying customers," he stated.
He lauded police officers who acted swiftly to normalise the situation.
Makori assured that police officers will hold a meeting with bodaboda officials to ensure similar incidences are not witnessed in future.
