The win assured Sofapaka of a final berth against last year's runners-up Kariobangi Sharks, who drubbed KDF's Ulinzi Stars 4 -1 in an earlier enthralling kick off at the MISC Kasarani.

With the match headed for a stalemate, Sofapaka's Elli Asieche came off from the bench to settle the scores on the 78th minute with a superb strike past Ingwe custodian Ezekiel Owade, after pouncing on a rebound.

The lead awakened Leopards who came firing from all cylinders as they searched for the elusive equalizer.

Sofapaka defense thwarted off Alex Orotomal effort that was headed in the net and also survived a last-minute scare from Ezekial Odera strike thanks to captain Mathias KIgonya who kept Leopards at a bay.

Leopards will rue for the missed chances as they fell again to the former 2014 Champions.

In the other semi-final, Kariobangi Sharks came into the match seeking revenge against Ulinzi Stars after suffering at the hands of the soldiers in 2016.

And surely their point was proven as Duke Abuya moved past Mohammed Hassan to head in the opener for the Sharks beyond Ulinzi custodian Timothy Odhiambo.

Within no time Shaphan Oyugi doubled Sharks' lead as he capitalised on a parried ball from Timothy Odhiambo thanks to former Mathare United man Harrison Mwendwa's donkey work.

Minutes later, Eric Kapaiti rose to the occasion and capitalised on Ulinzi's defensive lapses to score the third goal on the 20th minute.

On resumption of the second half, Sharks picked from where they had left as Eric Kapaiti put the game beyond Ulinzi Stars' reach with a sublime shot. Substitute Cliff Kasuti pulled back a consolation for the KDF on the 90th minute.

Sharks will aim to break the jinx against Sofapaka in the shield final on 20th October, after losing the final to Leopards last year, as Sofapaka aim to reclaim their glory after winning the shield in 2014.
