In a post on his Facebook page on Friday, Sudi noted that the arrest was motivated by the presence of Matiang'I in Laikipia.

According to the vocal legislator, arresting Waruguru was unlawful noting being an elected leader and also a Kenyan citizen, she has freedom of assembly and speech.

"It is not a coincidence that she was arrested when Matiang'i was in her county. County Commissioner must have been given instructions to undertake that assignment," Sudi noted.

"Matiang'i and company should be reminded that we have a new Constitution in place and such heinous acts by the authority will never be tolerated. We are also aware that Hon. Waruguru is being targeted over her firm political stand known to all Kenyans," he added.

The MP asked the government to release Waruguru with no condition.

Waruguru was arrested at a Nanyuki hotel shortly after attending a press conference addressed by Interior CS Fred Matiang’i.

She is accused of inciting operators of the banned Probox and Sienta vehicles to demonstrate over police harassment.
