Deputy President William Ruto seems to read from different script from his close allies Kipchumba Murkomen and Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi over the role of DCI George Kinoti in the fight against graft.

Early this week, Murkomen and Sudi accused Mr Kinoti of being used to selectively fight DP Ruto through investigations of certain perceived corruption scandals with an aim of blocking his 2022 bid.

But at Kirinyaga on Thursday, Ruto insisted that he fully supports the fight against corruption, adding that all government agencies among them DCI and DPP should be fully supported.

"Those with information about individuals committing crimes like corruption should submit petitions to investigative agencies such as the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) and Judiciary.

"They get their authority from the Constitution, and are therefore not subject to control by any person or authority. They should be allowed to effectively and efficiently," he said.

President Uhuru Kenyatta had also insisting that Mr Kinoti and DPP Noordin Haji were doing a good job and blasted those accusing them of being selective in the fight against corruption.

Sudi had openly accused Kinoti of taking instructions from certain government mandarins keen to have Ruto blocked from the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.

Dr Ruto has been under fire from certain quarters with ODM leader Raila Odinga accusing him of allegedly defrauding the public in controversial construction of Kimwarer and Aror dams.
