Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s co-accused persons Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero have vowed to move to the Court of Appeal to challenge the ruling by Justice Jessie Lessit that denied them bail in Sharon Otieno’s murder case.
The two have termed the ruling as selective.
Through their lawyers, Oyamo and Obiero say that they will immediately file an appeal in the Court of Appeal.
“The ruling is selective, and as a matter of urgency we are going to immediately file a notice appeal in the Court of Appeal” Jane Ashioya, Oyamo’s lawyer told journalists outside Milimani Law Courts.
Justice Lessit denied Oyamo and Obiero bail on the grounds that the evidence presented against them by the prosecution is strong.
The Judge, however, ruled that the two accused persons have a right to appeal for bail or bond.
Lessit granted Obado Sh5 Million bail with two sureties of a similar amount.
The Judge ordered Governor Obado to surrender his travel documents to the court.
She was also warned against interfering with or intimidating witnesses.
Obado has been in remand for the last 33 days since his arrest on September 21.
He pleaded not guilty to killing Sharon Otieno and her unborn baby.
