Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi stares at a rough and tough path in his bid for the presidency, former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has said.
Khalwale said if Mudavadi dares to go for the top seat in the next election, all manner of trash would be thrown on his way to ensure he does not succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking during a talk show on NTV on Tuesday, the former lawmaker pinpointed at ODM leader Raila Odinga as Mudavadi's 'enemy' number one who would do everything to ensure the son of 'Mulembe' does not occupy the house on the hill.
Khalwale claimed Raila would use his foot soldiers led by his cousin former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo to revive a scandal in which Mudavadi was accused of stealing Sh283 million when he served as Minister for Local Government.
"If it comes to pass that Mudavadi's name will be on the ballot in 2022, Jakoyo and others will be the first to resurrect the cemetery scandal, " he said.
In the fraud that raised a storm in the Grand Coalition government, it was alleged that the former Deputy Prime Minister bought land valued at Sh 24 million for nearly Sh300 million which was meant for a cemetery in Nairobi.
Khalwale urged the ANC leader and his 'brother' Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang'ula to join the winning side which is led by Deputy President William Ruto, saying they will be 'safe' from cunning dynasties.
"Mudavadi and Wetang'ula should wake up and smell the coffee and make their own friends, but I hope they won't say they will be 'watu wa mkono wa Uhuru', " the ex-legislator said.
