It was quite traumatizing for her, they say, when he showed up at the plot with another woman in town with a briefcase as huge as a cruise ship. She was in for the long haul.
She had been helping her sister run a kibanda that sold vegetables and what not when she met him. He was popularly known as Cena in the plot in Sugunanga estate, Eldoret.
Cena, a man that would have passed as a wrestler owing to a huge body, flirted with her and she fell in love with him. She would even supply vegetables to his single room house, and process them into edible things, just for him.
For all the chores or the troubles, Sheila [her name] was promised marriage by Cena, who was a student at Rift Valley Technical Training Institute [RVTTI].
She couldn’t have asked more than that, probably, because it was how love was crowned. And she was truly in love.
However, on one fine evening, Cena showed up with another lady, briskly walked by the kibanda as if it was the most normal thing in the world.
It was as if she had been struck by a thunderbolt. It was too much for her to bear, and the stress that hit her could be considered as contraband or poisoned.
She packed her things and left Eldoret for good.
