The killer sugar saga that has the heads of Kenyans across the political spectrum spinning due to the shocking revelations has taken a fresh twist.
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday said, in no uncertain terms, that if his blood brother Muhoho is implicated in the shady smuggling of the contraband sugar, then he will have to bear his own cross.
The president's intervention, bizarre to many, has caused a stir, especially on social media.
Here is how the residents of Garissa have reacted to the president's intervention:
''This is what we need from the president. His words show that he is genuine about fighting corruption,'' Khalif Balo says.
''No cow should be sacred. If you are a suspect, the law should catch up with you even if you are the president's kin,'' Medina Omar said.
''I fully support the president's crusade against corruption that is crippling the economy of our country,'' Juno Galgalo said.
''Now this is what we have been waiting to hear from the head of state,'' Salma Rege said
''We want to see action and not empty words,'' Godana Jama said.
