Speaking on AM Live on Tuesday, the former National Assembly Deputy Minority Whip said that Ruto is set to fail in his bid, unless he personally takes charge of his candidature.

He cautioned him against over-banking on his contributions towards Uhuru's election in 2013 and his August 8 reelection.

"Ruto must stop thinking that the seat is his come 2022. He is not guaranteed of power," he said.

Jakoyo who has since detached himself from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party which is led by his cousin and opposition leader Raila Odinga further warned the DP that his political rigidness will further harm him.

He advised the former Eldoret North lawmaker to join the ongoing national unity pursuit led by Odinga and Kenyatta after their March 9 reconciliation.

"If I were him I would have joined the two as whatever they are doing is aimed at bettering the nation," he added.

Midiwo lost to Elisha Odhiambo of ODM in the concluded poll, after failing to clinch the Orange party ticket.
