It is a common phenomenon across Kiambu County for villagers especially tea, coffee and milk farmers to come to town from time to time.

Most of these times are usually during end month when they are coming to withdraw their monthly earnings from town banks.

Many of these villagers are known to visit town bars and brothels thereafter as they seek to do what they term as 'kwihura rukungu' meaning 'to wipe off the dust'.

Many sex workers especially in Kiambu and Thika towns are privy to this and are, therefore, always waiting for these loaded villagers to show up for them to make a 'fortune'.

Some of these hawk-eyed sex workers whose main aim is to drain their clients of anything they have, target these villagers a lot because of their generosity and heavy spending.

So, what tactics do they use to keep these clients coming back again and again even as they keep on robbing them one month after another?

1. Giving them a king's treat: There is nothing as comforting as when a young lady shows 'love and care' to an old coffee farmer who in his three decades of marriage. So, the Kiambu town sex workers have mastered this art and ensure that their village clients feel at home away from home. By the time that this village client realises he wasn't at home, everything is gone.

2. Sweet romantic talks: Sex workers who want to drain your pockets are masters of sweet talk. They apply this to village revellers till they sleep on the table. While in their dream world, all the money they had 'escapes into thin air'.

3. Fondling and massaging: These are rare things in many villages so, whenever a loaded villager comes across them he forgets everything including the money in his pocket. This is when the sex workers cease the moment and the rest becomes history.

4. Encouraging the reveller to drink more. Many of these sex workers will encourage the reveller to drink like a fish while themselves are taking less to stay alert. The 'prey' will even be told not to worry about where to sleep as 'we will sleep in my house or go to one of the many guest rooms in town'. With that, the villager drinks carelessly and when he has guzzled and become loose enough, he is frisked and left laying his head on the table like a sick sheep.
