Kalonzo found himself in an awkward situation after an encounter with a journalist during a Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) meeting in April 2014.

He was among the opposition leaders who had called for a press briefing to condemn the Jubilee government's performance.

Kalonzo got angered after the journalist questioned the leaders why they were not offering credible opposition to the ruling party.

He asked the journalist who had asked the question to introduce himself.

Kalonzo dropped the bomb shell immediately the scribe said his name.

‘’Thank you Kennedy Mureithi that name betrays you absolutely, I have nothing else to say," Kalonzo said.

With that statement only, Kalonzo made sure he was buried under a dirty heap of ignominy.

This is because Kenyans on social media didn't hesitate to roast the opposition coalition.

They shot at Kalonzo for engaging in a full blown ethnic bigotry before a national television.

Kenyans from all walks of lives condemned the former Vice President's tribal discrimination, arguing that no one choses from what community to be born.

Kalonzo clarified that his remarks were on a light note and he was ready to apologize to the journalist.

‘’Indeed it’s with a light touch. My statement was taken out of context but I wish to apologize to him, the entire journalistic fraternity and anyone who found the comment insulting,’’ Kalonzo said.
