Speaking during a mention of a case, the magistrate said the group should be limited to matters related to the case and make sure that they have enough information during pretrial.

“Counsels, let me advise you consider new technology and form a platform to discuss issues and exchange court documents to make work easier,”  he said as quoted by K24.

The Sh588 million fraud case involves the governor, his wife Susan Ndung’u and a number of county officials.

Meanwhile, nine Members of the Kiambu County Assembly have requested to be enjoined in the case as interested parties.

Through lawyer Ndungu Gathinji, the MCAs claim that they need to be part of the case to represent Kiambu residents who they allege are victims of the corruption case.

However, Waititu’s lawyers led by Mbiyu Kamau denied the request alleging that it was politically motivated.

“We will not allow the case to become a political contest instead of a legal process. Their interest has not been disclosed and there are questions whether they have any reasonable grounds to be joined as interested parties,” said Kamau as quoted by the Standard.
