NARC-Kenya party leader Martha Karua has addressed her chances of replacing the embattled Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu.
Kenyans have been calling for the resignation of Mwilu after she was arrested over corruption allegations.
Mwilu, who is also the Supreme Court Deputy President, is out on an Sh5 million bond and got a reprieve on Wednesday after the High Court suspended the criminal proceedings facing her which include tax evasion, stealing and abuse of office.
Contributing to the ongoing debate of replacing Mwilu, Lydia Cara, a Kenyan, has proposed the nomination of Karua as the country's fourth Deputy Chief Justice.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Cara said the NARC-Kenya leader has all that it takes to take over from Mwilu and asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to nominate her.
"Is it to early to vouch for @MarthaKarua to be our next Deputy CJ to say the truth I don't see a way out for the incumbent Ms Mwilu. I know there is protocol and candidates need to be vetted. But sincerely speaking Martha has a lot of wisdom that needs to be tapped into @UKenyatta," she posted.
But in a quick rejoinder, Karua, an advocate of the High Court and former magistrate, turned down the 'offer' saying she had other plans.
"No thanks! I have no interest to work for the Judiciary," she stated.
When another tweep, CPA Kipkemoi, pressed her to go for the top job, the former Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister stood her ground and replied: "Allow me to make my choices."
