Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has thrown a jibe at Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga terming him as "opportunistic and inconsistent".
This is after the former Prime Minister accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta to China to seek for more loans and strike other business deals.
Nyoro wondered why Raila was now supporting Uhuru to secure more debts when in the past he has accused the Jubilee administration of over borrowing.
The first-time legislator also mocked the ODM leader over his change of tune on the controversial Eurobond after his March 9 handshake with the Head of State.
“In Mr Odinga’s books, Eurobond was a ‘scam’ before the handshake and a revolutionary financing vehicle afterwards. Kenya was taking so much debt before the handshake, but we appear able to absorb more debt now and he’s headed to China to take more. That’s Raila,” said Nyoro, speaking to Sunday Nation.
The remarks, however, were dismissed by Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi who said Raila was still holding on his ideology, noting he has only changed tactics after his truce with Uhuru for the sake of peace and unity.
“In politics, just as in war, tactics do change even if the long-term strategy remains the same,” he said.
On the issue of accompanying the President to China, the ODM secretary for political affairs said: "Raila has been very consistent in championing what is good for the people and the China deal is just part of it".
