Nyamira County Director for Medical Services Dr Silas Ayunga has fired warning shots at a section of individuals running private clinics without receiving the required training.
Speaking on Thursday when he officially opened the County Health Sector Stakeholders Forum at the Guardian Hotel, Ayunga said untrained medical personnel should close the clinics before the law catches up with them.
He reiterated that officers from the health docket will traverse the county to ensure no clinic is being operated by quacks.
"The lives of our people matter a lot. I, therefore, request individuals running private clinics across the county without necessary documents to shut down the clinics before we catch up with them," said Ayunga.
The director urged residents to seek medical services at public health centres due to the competence of the health workers.
"The county government of Nyamira is committed to ensuring residents access affordable and quality medical care. Locals are advised to seek medical attention at public health centres where they will be attended to by qualified medical staff," he stated.
He assured residents that the county government has stocked enough drugs in all public hospitals.
