Speaking on Wednesday during the launch of Pan-African Trade Unions Symposium in Nairobi, Raila said that the government must step up its fight against this vice to protect the resources of this country for the sake of taxpayers.

He urged the government to adopt radical measures to stop leaders from looting what belongs to the public in different capacities.

The Former Prime Minister said that it is unfortunate that each day we wake to stories of mega scandals rocking various sectors of the economy while there is little being done to stop the same.

He also said that billions are being wired to foreign accounts by looters to nations such as the United Kingdom and Italy among others yet they cannot be accounted for.

“These people who are stealing are criminals and they should be dealt with as such,” he said, as quoted by Standard.

He noted that countries such as China are doing well because the government has radical measures to fight the vice.

He also argued that the corrupt individuals in this nation have been made to think that they are untouchable. Raila, who has since vowed to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta, said that African has its potential to solve its problems and not cry out to their colonial masters.
