Miguna did not comment whether he would take up the position or not and this was complicated because by then he had already been deported to Canada.
Fast forward, the governor had promised to make the big announcement on Friday and many were curious to know who will be the next deputy governor for Kenya's capital.
However, after nominating various people for different positions in the county executive committee, He surprised many by not naming the deputy governor.
He stated that NASA coalition had made a late request to him and he has decided not to rush to name next deputy governor till further consultation are done.
"This is to notify you that I was ready with the name of the nominee but I have received a request from the NASA coalition that in the spirit of the handshake and subsequent cooperation with the ruling coalition that I should consider the proposed nominee Rahab Wangui for the position of deputy governor, "he said.
Rehab had unsuccessfully contested for the position of Nairobi county women representative where she became a distant third in 2017 concluded elections.
He continued saying that he will nominate the deputy governor earliest possible, giving a timeline of two to three weeks. He also added that the deputy governor will not be an active politician and must be a lady for gender balance.
