Political analyst Ambrose Weda has faulted ODM leader Raila Odinga over his recent calls for the church to avoid offerings and contributions from political leaders.
Speaking on Wednesday, Weda noted that Raila has no moral authority to speak on matters contributions, thanks to his known record of alleged 'stinginess'.
He claimed that the former Prime Minister is not known to give money to such courses, and is therefore not in any position to give any advice to do with such actions or reprimand generous politicians.
"Raila is not qualified to talk about church donations. He is known to be very stingy and never gives any serious money," Weda said during an interview on the Big Conversation at KBC English Service, Wednesday.
He observed that the campaign is openly a tact against Deputy President William Ruto who seems to be achieving big through the church ahead of his 2022 presidential bid.
According to Weda, Raila and his team are feeling threatened ahead of the race, and are therefore trying to use the narrative to prevent him from gaining more popularity.
"This is obviously a weapon against the Deputy President who has chosen the path of giving. He has exceeded generosity and the stingy ones are feeling embarrassed," he added.
Despite the calls and some churches banning political functions in their pulpits, Ruto and his team have continued to participate in fundraisers and church functions.
Raila argues that politicians are using the church as a place to launder money acquired unfairly, especially through corruption, and is questioning the source of Ruto's money.
