Renowned lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi is advocating for more lawyers to be inducted to the Senior Counsel level.
In a tweet on Monday, Abdullahi who is a Senior Counsel (SC)said they will be welcoming the new group awaiting to be crowned by Chief Justice David Maraga.
He argued that having at least 1,000 SCs in the country will be of great advantage in the field.
''24 great lawyers will soon join the rank of SENIOR COUNSEL...we will welcome and induct them...we NEED to have more lawyers as Senior Counsel ...in a profession with 16000 lawyers, we need at least 1000 Senior counsel,'' he tweeted.
The new group of SCs who have waited for seven years are set to be unveiled by CJ Maraga.
Among them are former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and former Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Martha Karua.
They successfully managed to make through a list of 90 who had applied for the Senior Counsel status.
Those who missed out will have to wait for the next application.
At the moment, there are only 24 lawyers in that capacity of Senior Counsel and this will add the number to 48.
