Groove awards is an annual event strictly for Gospel artists where the winners are chosen by the public through voting.
The event's coverage has spread to other East African countries like Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Burundi.
The awards come in different categories including gospel performers, Deejays, radio and TV shows among others.
It began way back in 2004 and is currently being sponsored by Safaricom and Mo sounds events.
Here in Kenya, the event awards overall best male and female artist as well as the best artist in each of the 8 regions, formerly provinces.
Ukambani belongs to the eastern region and these are the artists who have been nominated to contest for groove awards 2019;
1. Wilberforce Musyoka.
His song "Kiwango" won the Eastern song of the year award last year. This year, his song "Kava ndiwe na Yesu" has been nominated.
2. Stephen Kasolo popularly known as "Kitole"
His new tune "Kyaa Kya Ngai" has been selected.
3. Evangelist John Kay of "Mundu Uiva" fame.
The song "Mundu Uiva" is on the list.
4. Justus Myello alias Mwanaa Mutete.
Myello is popularly known for his "Katiwa" and "sponsor wakwa ni Yesu" songs.
5. Eunice Kyalo.
Her song "Tamuka ndeto" has been chosen.
6. Bessy Blessing's song 'Testimony' has also been nominated.
