Eldama Ravine MP Moses Lessonet has called for the arrest and prosecution of alleged county officials who rounded up street children in Nakuru and dumped them in a forest in Baringo county.
The MP said the move borders on criminal acts and those responsible must be subjected to the law.
"I call upon DCI boss George Kinoti to investigate an incident where street urchins are alleged to have been ferried to Torongo on Wednesday night from Nakuru. It is criminal to move people from one location to another without their consent thus prompt investigation and action taken on those involved is needed," the MP said.
Residents of a village in Koibatek were shocked Thursday morning when they woke up to 'guests' in their neighbourhood.
The more than 40 street children said they were rounded up from Nakuru streets by 'county officials' who transported them to a forest in Siwach village in Baringo.
They had to brave the chilling cold at night before they traced their way to a nearby village in the morning.
The act has been condemned as inhuman.
Nakuru County government is yet to issue a statement on the issue.
