It is famous owing to the fact that is ranked as Africa’s largest slum.

Despite the negative things people associate Kibera with, it takes pride in having produced top talents in various sectors in the country.

Kibera also takes pride in being home to top international charity organizations that promote talent in the country.

The constituency has produced top people in government and other sectors.

Here are three top famous politicians who were born, raised up and schooled in Kibera slums.

1. Ken Okoth

The Kibera MP was born and raised up at Kibera's 'Kisumu Ndogo' (little Kisumu) in 1978.

He schooled at Starehe Boys Center before travelling abroad for his Bachelors and Master’s degrees. 

He is the fourth-born in a family of six.

The MP says that his father abandoned the family early in life, living their mother to bring them up.

Okoth says that they used to live in a small house, 30 meters from the Kibera railway line.

2. Ferdinand Waititu

The Kiambu Governor was raised in a humble background in Kibera.

In an interview with the famous TV comedy show ‘Churchill’, Governor Waititu confessed that he was raised in a polygamous family.

The Governor schooled in Kibera before moving to Punjab University in India for his bachelor’s Degree.

3. Dr Alfred Mutua

The Machakos Governor was born and brought up in Kibera’s Makina area.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap Governor schooled at Guadalupe Catholic Church Nursery School and later joined Toi primary school in Kibera.

Governor Mutua's family later relocated to Riruta.
