The county boss took to social media to reveal the new development.

According to the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party (MCCP) leader, Wathome cited health reasons when she presented her resignation letter to him on Monday.

Mutua wished her well in her endeavors.

He equally announced that he has appointed Francis Mwaka from the Trade, innovation and industrialization to act in the same capacity before her replacement.

“I have today accepted the resignation of Hon. Faith Syokau Wathome as Minister for Tourism, sports and culture in my government. She requested me to relieve her of the duties due to personal issues touching her health. Even though my government wishes her to continue serving in my government due to her exemplary service , I respect her wish and hence my decision to accept her request,” he said.

The news comes after the county boss asked former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka to back his candidature in 2022.

The county boss, also a former government's Spokesman, has assured Machakos County residents of transformation before he completes his second and final term in office.
