Ford Kenya deputy party leader Boni Khalwale has been urged to quit the party for shifting allegiance to Deputy President William Ruto to drum up his support for 2022 presidential candidacy in the Western region.
The party Secretary General Eseli Simiyu claimed that the deputy party leader has begun a premature presidential campaign for another candidate, thus being a stumbling block to Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula who is also eying the top office in the land.
“He is a seasoned politician who fully understands what the party rules and regulations are as well as the requirements of the Political Parties Act. He should feel free to leave since his heart is elsewhere,” Simiyu said as quoted by Standard digital.
Simiyu pointed out that Khalwale should bolt out of the party for failing to support part presidential flag-bearer and hence should pave way for the party to prepare to field the candidate.
Bungoma senator who also doubles up as Ford Kenya Party leader Moses Wetangula is expected to face off with Deputy President William Ruto in 2022 presidential showdown among other contestants.
The DP’s erstwhile political critic former senator of Kakamega Khalwale has vowed to bolster to clinch presidency in his bid to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta when his tenure ended.
