The committee put the county boss on spot to explain how his government spent Sh.3.2 billion after it emerged that the same was not available in the IFMIS system.

The second term county boss, however, insisted that no single coin allocated to his government was missing from the financial kitty as reported by the office of the Auditor-General.

He pointed an accusing finger at the IFMIS system and the Ministry of Finance for the irregularities.

He insisted that the records were not only clear in Kilifi but also other counties which is an indicator that something is wrong with the systems being used.

The Senate committee ordered the governor, who is affiliated to Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s ODM, to present it with financial documents of the county within a period of seven days failure to which an unspecified action will be taken against him.

The grilling comes after Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru and her Kiambu counterpart Ferdinard Waititu were also summoned to the Senate to account for the missing billions on their county governments.
