Speaking on Citizen TV on Monday, the parliamentarian thanked his first term between 2013 and 2017 for his reelection, adding that residents considered his good job to reelect him.

He added that his track record is clean and his development record open for everyone to see, saying that he did a spotless job which stands and can be seen to date.

Ochieng said that as a result of this, he didn't have a tough job of convincing the people to vote for him, apart from reminding them about what he has done for the constituency.

"I was running on real things that can be seen, touched, heard and felt I did a very good job in my first term," he said.

He claimed that he won the race without uttering even a single lie in a bid to woo the voters to his side, saying that he only referred them to his first-term achievements.

"I am a very lucky human being, I became MP at only 31. When I went back to the people I did not have to lie or create castles in the air," he added.

Among the people he defeated in the race was Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party's Chris Karan who was the sitting MP.

Ochieng garnered 18,730 votes against Karan's 14,507 while Daniel Juma and Brian Omondi came third and forth with less than one hundred votes each.
