Political analyst Prof Mutahi Ngunyi has alleged that Chief Justice David Maraga is plotting to dissolve parliament which at the end, will see President Uhuru Kenyatta sent home.
Through his Twitter handle, Ngunyi alleged that Maraga's speech at Oxford University spilt the beans, adding that "the civilian coup never died".
"...What we should be talking about is the Maraga speech at Oxford. This man will dissolve parliament over the gender rule. And with the same stroke, he will send Uhuru home! The civilian coup never died," he tweeted.
On Tuesday at Oxford University, CJ Maraga accused the Executive and Parliament of being the 'enemy of Kenyans'.
His tweet is rapidly eliciting mixed reactions from Kenyans, with a section of them saying that Maraga has delayed dissolving parliament, while others say it will never happen in Kenya.
Pascal Mwikya said: "If dat (sic) happens it will be ENTIRELY parliament's own fault! the CJ didn't make them ignore the constitution. Maybe you should have told MP's their livelihoods were on the line maybe they would have showed up like they do when they want salary increase. They deserve 2 #GoHome."
Sankara said: "Parliament deserves to be dissolved and sent home. Is it not obvious that they have failed and WILL NOT implement the gender 2/3 rule? We need BOLD action to save this constitution otherwise it is doomed. Politicians think they are the law, they must be shown otherwise."
Tony Gitonga said: "The destiny of the presidency is not conjoined with that of Parliament. Dissolution of Parliament doesn't terminate the presidency. The methods of doing the latter are clear & elaborate. Thought you should know."
Jack Mucheru said: "In Kenya nothing like that will happen he (Maraga) no longer has the guts to dissolve Parliament."
