Veteran politician Koigi Wa Wamwere has poked holes into the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership, two years after joining the party from the ruling Jubilee side.
This comes only hours after the party lost in the Ugenya and Embakasi South by-elections, a situation the former Subukia lawmaker is now blaming on poor party leadership.
Speaking on Saturday, the MP fired shots at the team led by opposition chief Raila Odinga, terming it a tired and rusty team which now needs to be switched by a new one.
He noted that its refusal to exit since the party was formed has made the party unproductive, adding that the leaders and have demonstrated that they lack the ideas to steer it to success.
"Wale wote walio unongozini mwa ODM ni watu ambao wanajitafutia tu. Hawajali matakwa ya walio nyuma yao ama wananchi. Wanafaa waondoke sasa.
(The entire leadership is composed of selfish persons who are on a mission to satisfy themselves. They don't care about the interests of their followers and must leave now)," he said.
Wamwere was speaking on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's Cheche show, Saturday evening.
However, he said that his views should not be taken as a direct shot at anyone, adding that he has noting personal against the party or anyone in it.
"Sina uhasama na chama cha ODM lakini nina uhasama na uongozi uliochakaa (I have no issues with the party, what I don't agree with it the tired leadership)," he added.
The former Assistant Cabinet Minister and political detainee decamped to ODM after losing the Jubilee ticket for the Nakuru senatorial race ahead of the 2017 general polls.
