Former Makadara MP Benson Mutura has been the latest member of the Jubilee Party to weigh in on President Uhuru Kenyatta's Thursday State of the Nation address.
Speaking on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Saturday morning, the former lawmaker hailed Uhuru for handing over graft cases to the relevant bodies.
He noted that Uhuru's initial habit of issuing threats to suspected corrupt elements within his government was one of the things making him seem irrelevant.
He added that Kenyatta has as also been making himself appear like a joker to the international community as well as a weak Head of State who is complaining to his juniors.
"Rais anapozungumza mambo ya ufisadi kila siku hata mbele ya dunia anaonekana hana mpango na wanapoteza imani katika uongozi wake (the unending corruption talk is making the international community to lose confidence in his leadership)," the MP said.
He lauded Uhuru for empowering and expressing his confidence in the investigative agencies as well the Judiciary, adding that he should now let the said institutions handle the issue.
"Rais amezipa nguvu zile taasisi husika na ni vyema sasa aziwachie hiyo kazi (he has already empowered the relevant institutions and should now let them handle the matter)," he added.
In his speech, Uhuru noted that though he is under pressure to sack cabinet secretaries implicated in graft, he will only do it after getting the nod from the courts.
